Apartment Review
Glad to be gone!!

Things were great when we first moved in - beautiful landscaping, fresh bark dust, nice management. Then things went downhill. Barkdust was not replaced in the 2 years we were there so the bare ground just looked like crap. The gardeners don't know how to properly prune thigns and completely butcher the rose bushes and rhododendrons. When we moved in, we were told that the walls were double thick and we wouldn't hear our neighbors. NOT TRUE! Our above neighbors were constantly runnig and stomping and yelling. The neighbors we share a living room wall with - you can hear exactly what they are watching on tv or what kind of music they are listening to. The neighbors we share a bedroom wall with - well, you can hear ANY AND ALL noises made in the bedroom. You can even hear when the neghbors above use the bathroom - GROSS!! At one point, I had LOTS of underwear stolen from the laundry room. My dryer hadn't even stopped completely when I went back to get it and there were over 10 pairs missing! (We had the apartment across the hall from the laundry room so it made me feel like I was being watched.) I reported this to police, who said I was allowed to hang notes in teh laudry room warning the neighbors, as there are lots of women and children living in my building. Management would NOT allow me to hang notes and would promptl;y remove the ones that I did hang. They acted like they just didn't care! Yes, maintenance issues were taken care of quickly, but if you complained to management about anything, they jsut kind of brushed you off. We had several things stolen off of our porch and management did not care. The doors, windows, and ac units are all very old and leak all of your electricity, so be prepared for high bills when you have to use the heat or ac. Parking here sucks in general. If you live in the inner buildings, you cannot park next to your building and have to walk quite a ways - which SUCKS when you go grocery shopping! The large parking garages got fenced off because they were not up to code. They were fenced off for at least 6 months without any work being done to them. So the already terrible parking became even harder, you had to fight for a spot near the office and if you got home after 4pm, you could forget it! They finally started doing work demolishing the garages and had to block off more parking to do so. The last year of our residence became a hassle because of this. The worst part is that we were told upon move in that our carpet would be replaced when we left, as they did not have time to replace it before we moved in. Upon move out, they told us that since we lived there for over 2 years, there would be no walk through, they would take out final utility bills out of our deposits then refund the rest. About a week after we left, we got a letter from them stating that they were taking $200 out of our deposits because of carpet damage! Also included was a copy of the final walkthrough that they did after we turned in our keys! (So much for no walkthrough!) The carpet damage that they found, they marked as 'pet urine' - but our dog NEVER made a mistake in the apartment! One stain was from laundry detergent that would have come out with a carpet cleaner. (We were told not to worry about cleaning the carpets because they were going to be replaced) The other 2 stains were there when we moved in! So, if you're moving here, or moving out, make SURE you do a final walkthrough with management and document EVERYTHING! Otherwise, you're going to get screwed out of some money!!
